BURLINGAME, San Mateo County — November 4, 2026. Burlingame Measure D shows a substantial early Yes majority on the city’s transient occupancy or hotel tax proposal.
What the unofficial vote shows
The November election results page lists 4,969 Yes votes (77.64%) and 1,431 No votes (22.36%).
What the measure would change
The city considered raising its existing 12% lodging tax by three percentage points to 15% for hotel and lodging stays. Before the election, the city estimated this change could generate approximately $5.7 million per year for general city services. That amount is a projection, not revenue received.
What is not yet decided
The county’s official voter guide lists a simple-majority approval requirement. A preliminary Yes lead is not the same as final certification.
Figures reflect the November 2026 election results listing published by NBC Bay Area, not a fresh verified November 5 count. As of 4 p.m. November 4, San Mateo County estimated 130,000 ballots remained unprocessed countywide. The county scheduled another results release before 4:30 p.m. November 5 and certification for December 3.
