BURLINGAME, San Mateo County — October 25, 2026. Burlingame residents visiting City Hall this week should check the address before leaving: the city says its new City Hall at 1440 Chapin Avenue is scheduled to open to the public Tuesday, October 27, following the completion of construction.
City offices are moving
According to the official October 20 announcement, the former City Hall closed to the public at noon on Thursday, October 22 so employees could move equipment and other large items. The new building is scheduled to reopen for normal municipal business October 27. The city says staff will continue answering questions by email and phone during the closure, although replies may take longer.
What residents should do
If you need in-person help with a permit, government records, a city service or another municipal request, check the city’s website before visiting during the transition period. Do not assume the former 501 Primrose Road location is still the correct service counter. For current department contacts, city service listings and any last-minute opening changes, begin at the official City of Burlingame website or call 650-558-7200.
The city says the new building is intended to offer better-equipped service counters and easier access to staff. This is an announcement of a planned opening, not confirmation that every department has resumed walk-in service; verify specific requirements when making a trip.
